Common questions

Do I need a parking permit?

Olde Kensington is in two Philadelphia Parking Authority permit districts. District 25 covers the southern part (south of Master St west of American St, and south of Oxford St east of American), and District 38 covers the northern part. A permit only applies on blocks posted for permit parking, so check your block on the PPA's interactive map of permit districts.

How much is a permit and what do I need?

$75 per vehicle per year. You need Pennsylvania plates on a vehicle registered to your home address, plus proof of registration and proof of residency, such as your driver's license, lease or a recent utility bill. Apply online, by mail, or in person at 35 N. 8th St. See the PPA's permit page.

Is there street sweeping?

Yes. Olde Kensington is inside the City's West Fairhill sweeping area (Broad to Front, Lehigh to Girard). In 2026 crews sweep April 6 to October 29, Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm. Where "No Parking" signs are posted, move your car or you'll be ticketed. Check your street's day on StreetSmartPHL.

How do I reserve curb space for a moving truck?

Apply for a Temporary No Parking permit from the City's Department of Streets at least four business days ahead. See the City's permit page.
